Facilitated in a convenient parallel to how you will teach, our sessions cover all the main concepts. These are delivered in a dynamic, playful, and sensory way helping you understand how play-based pedagogy works.
Rhythm: Spoken rhythm, body percussion, rhythm with objects, and rhythm with percussion introduce you to express music with your gross motor skills.

Meet the Facilitator
Kevin Wilson is the Founder and Director of Tāla Education, a music education company. He has been a teacher for over two decades and is a strong advocate for play-based music and movement education. Kevin is also a seasoned teacher-trainer, having trained over 1,600 teachers and 100 schools.
He studied at the Bangalore Conservatory and completed music pedagogy and Orff Levels courses in New Zealand, the UK, and with The Association for Music in International Schools. He set up and ran a successful music program as Head of Performing Arts at Bangalore International School.

The sessions introduce you to a play-based approach to teaching and learning. You will discover different aspects that may suit your work as a teacher, such as:
Circle time: Transform your circle time into a beautifully creative and inclusive activity.
Integration: Cross-curricular connections with mathematics, reading, coding, social studies, and more will be addressed, along with connections to visual and performing arts areas, elocution, or any learning objective you might have as a teacher.
Whether you are an class teacher, music teacher, dance or theater teacher, special educator, or any teacher from Grades K to 5 interested in integrating music into your work for children, these sessions will work well for you.

We will touch base on child-centric pedagogies such as the Orff Approach, Kodàly method and other play-based concepts, ideas and methods that work well with children.
All of what we do has been tried, tested and actively used in our centres and schools with children.
These approaches are best suited for kids ages 2 to 10. This can work also for older kids depending on your delivery style.
A detailed itinerary and schedule will be shared with you towards the commencement of the workshop. However, here is a overall schedule to plan your travel:
Day 1: 8:30 am to 5Pm followed by a cultural evening post 7 pm to 9 pm
Day 2: 9 to 5pm.
Over two days we cover 10 to 12 sessions of diverse aspects of classroom teaching, in different pathways, of rhythm, movement, ensemble, composition, voice, story, language, and more all through the medium of play.
There are ample breaks and Q&A’s along with a gala dinner and cultural evening to network share and learn from many teaches across the country.
For Both locations it is approximately 45 minutes to an hour to travel from the airport to workshop venue. Local taxis or airport buses are readily available for transportation.
For Basawadi and Bangalore East Station is the closest.
Last stop should be Central Railway Station or Yeshwanthpur railway station pending on which state you are coming from.
Fro Bangalore Residential Program: Participants will stay in single or twin sharing rooms with comfortable beds and solar/geyser water showers.
The accommodation is in the same vicinity as the workshop venue.
Pune: Tāla will not be providing a stay. Local hotels are available within a 10 mins walking distance and we can share a couple of budget-friendly recommendations
You are more than welcome to book a room and stay outside campus if it works out economical for you. Our intention is to stay together hangout, network and gel together as a community of educators.
Participants will receive a certificate of participation, course material, Workbook templates, exhaustive lesson plans, post workshop support and guidance as and when we are available.
You also have an option to sign up for the “Tāla Affiliate Program” at the end of the workshop.
With hands-on training sessions, practical training, ready to implement lesson plans, and in the question and answer session, we are confident you will see tremendous changes in your classroom.
However, this is the first step to a long journey and you might take sometime to unpack these concepts. We encourage you to slowly find a way to implement it in your teaching skillsets.
