About the Sessions

Facilitated in a convenient parallel to how you will teach, our sessions cover all the main concepts. These are delivered in a dynamic, playful, and sensory way helping you understand how play-based pedagogy works.

Rhythm: Spoken rhythm, body percussion, rhythm with objects, and rhythm with percussion introduce you to express music with your gross motor skills.

Music Ensemble: Use our Orff instruments and learn how to engage everybody in a classroom to play music as a group in a percussion orchestra.

Composition: This creative session turns you/children into music composers and directors as you score music for movie/cartoon clips or other visuals.

Voice: Soundscapes, vocal warmups, and voice modulations inspired by stories open your imagination to vocalize. Folk and child-centric songs get you to sing, move and play.

Movement: Body movement inspired by music. Using folk music, dances, and play-based expression we use spontaneous and choreographed movement also appreciating cultures and music across the world.

Transdisciplinary-Integration: We customize sessions that integrate music & movement with language, sciences, math, and others subjects.

Kevin Wilson - Director & Founder

Kevin Wilson is the Founder and Director of Tāla Education, a music education company. He has been a teacher for over two decades and is a strong advocate for play-based music and movement education. Kevin is also a seasoned teacher-trainer, having trained over 1,600 teachers and 100 schools.

He studied at the Bangalore Conservatory and completed music pedagogy and Orff Levels courses in New Zealand, the UK, and with The Association for Music in International Schools. He set up and ran a successful music program as Head of Performing Arts at Bangalore International School.

The sessions introduce you to a play-based approach to teaching and learning. You will discover different aspects that may suit your work as a teacher, such as:

We will touch base on child-centric pedagogies such as the Orff Approach, Kodàly method and other play-based concepts, ideas and methods that work well with children. 

All of what we do has been tried, tested and actively used in our centres and schools with children. 

These approaches are best suited for kids ages 2 to 10. This can work also for older kids depending on your delivery style.

A detailed itinerary and schedule will be shared with you towards the commencement of the workshop. However, here is a overall schedule to plan your travel:

Day 1: 8:30 am to 5Pm followed by a cultural evening post 7 pm to 9 pm

Day 2: 9 to 5pm.

Over two days we cover 10 to 12 sessions of diverse aspects of classroom teaching, in different pathways, of rhythm, movement, ensemble, composition, voice, story, language, and more all through the medium of play.

There are ample breaks and Q&A’s along with a gala dinner and cultural evening to network share and learn from many teaches across the country.

For Both locations it is approximately 45 minutes to an hour to travel from the airport to workshop venue. Local taxis or airport buses are readily available for transportation.

For Basawadi and Bangalore East Station is the closest. 

Last stop should be Central Railway Station or Yeshwanthpur railway station pending on which state you are coming from.

 

 

Fro Bangalore Residential Program: Participants will stay in single or twin sharing rooms with comfortable beds and solar/geyser water showers.

The accommodation is in the same vicinity as the workshop venue.

Pune: Tāla will not be providing a stay. Local hotels are available within a 10 mins walking distance and we can share a couple of budget-friendly recommendations

 

You are more than welcome to book a room and stay outside campus if it works out economical for you. Our intention is to stay together hangout, network and gel together as a community of educators. 

All residential participants are expected to avoid delayed departures and other concerns, we suggest check in on eve of the workshop.

For Bangalore Residential Participants: Keep us informed when you will arrive and our team will be there to receive you and check you in. 

Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food (Only Bangalore), along with tea, coffee and snacks, will be served as per the itinerary.

Participants will receive a certificate of participation, course material, Workbook templates, exhaustive lesson plans, post workshop support and guidance as and when we are available.

You also have an option to sign up for the “Tāla Affiliate Program” at the end of the workshop.

With hands-on training sessions, practical training, ready to implement lesson plans, and in the question and answer session, we are confident you will see tremendous changes in your classroom. 

However, this is the first step to a long journey and you might take sometime to unpack these concepts. We encourage you to slowly find a way to implement it in your teaching skillsets.

Other than your personal belongings, you are just required to show up! 🙂

Course material, stationary, instruments, food and other basic necessities will be taken care by us.

Tāla Education, (“Tāla”, “we”, “us”, “our”) promises to respect your privacy. We do not sell, rent, loan or transfer any personal information regarding our customers or their children to any third parties. In this Terms of Service,  Privacy Policy and Submissions Statement (“Statement”), the term “Parent” includes legal guardians and the term “Customers” includes parents, families, educators, licensors and licensees.
Tāla utilizes multi-platform services that provide users with information, materials, functions and musical and educational content (“Content”). Tāla Content can be experienced on a website(s) (the “Website”), and/or other media such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram which are used for finding, listening, watching, and playing Content.
PLEASE READ THIS STATEMENT AND PRIVACY POLICY CAREFULLY BEFORE USING Tāla APPLICATIONS. 
By using Tāla Applications or by clicking a box that states that you accept or agree to these terms, you signify your agreement to this Statement. We encourage you to read the Statement, and to use the information it contains to help you make informed decisions. If you do not agree to this Statement, you may not use the Applications.

We consider all information obtained to be a private communication between Tāla,  Tāla program providers  and parents.  All communications to Parents and care givers are handled via the parent’s email address and official Registered mobile/ Contact Number. In order to register with Tāla,  parents are required to validate their email address and will then only have visibility to information shared to that specific email address. We will not collect any personal information about adults or children except when specifically, and knowingly provided by a Parent to Tāla and/or to Tāla program providers.  Personal information gathered on our website and applications is collected and used only by Tāla and Tāla program providers.

Mode of Teaching: Online Virtual Video calls, (Google, Zoom, Microsoft or another viable and commonly available free platform)
Communication between Teacher, Student and Parent: To maintain professionalism, safety of the student and teacher, transparency and ease of communication, Tāla uses third-party Education softwares, Such as Google Classroom and See-Saw for submissions, Review, Feedback, Assignments and any other official class related activities.
All communication with Tāla will happen between the parent and teacher.

All participants need to pay for the full course in advance. Admission only on payment of the fees. For one on one sessions: In an event where the student does not show up for class nor has informed us via SMS/WhatsApp/call or email 24 hours in advance that session is considered paid for the session. In the unlikely case of an emergency with the discretion and availability of the teacher, a compensation class can be accommodated. This, however, is subjected to the particular teacher's availability and not a promise from Tāla education.
100% refund if you cancel 7 days prior to the start of the session.For group and one on one sessions: After a student registers and doesn’t show up/ attends any session or if he or she stops attending class/sessions no refund would be initiated.  In the event where the teacher was unable to attend the class, a substitute teacher will be arranged in the class will continue as scheduled. Which is in the given situation we are unable to find a substitute teacher for that particular session, we offer a compensatory class at a later period convenient to the student. This offer would stand for a period of four weeks when we can schedule a class. In the unlikely event of us not compensating a class after the four-week window, a refund of the particular missed lesson will be offered. All group sessions: if a teacher is unable to attend class, a substitute teacher would be arranged for the scheduled class In the unlikely event where we are and able to provide a teacher, the class will be scheduled for another session.  Your child can join in on the session or another batch. The same compensatory session would hold good and can be availed within three weeks from the missed class.If a student misses the group session no refund will be given. If we have a concurrent batch, the student can attend that batch, provided the skill level is similar. You can request the content of the class material such as videos, and audio, and other material to be sent to you via email. The use of bad language, profanity, unsavory and unparliamentary language will not be tolerated or entertained during the class by the students as well as the faculty. Tala education holds the right to deny further attendance from the particular student or individuals unless a written apology or assurances given by the parents and the student that no such behavior will continue. The acceptance of the apology and reinstatement of registration of the student to attend the classes at the sole discretion of the administration and president. Tala education holds the right to deny registrations without any reason. 
We do not claim to offer to give certification. No certificate will be offered on the completion of any sessions, levels, and courses. Our programs and classes purely are based on hobbies and strive to inculcate the love for learning through music, movement, stories, and other alternate means of teaching. Though most of our faculty are trained and certified teachers with international courses and experience under their belt, tāla Education does not claim to have any association with any board of education or music school, neither are we accredited with an organization. Our teachers are passionate educators and happy to share the love to inculcate a passion for music in children, something that often is lacking in mainstream education.

YOUR PRIVACY
Tāla takes your privacy very seriously. Your personally identifying information (“Personal Information”) is subject to our Privacy Policy which is incorporated and made a part of this Statement. It is your responsibility to review these policies carefully before using our Services.
Tāla COMMUNICATIONS
REGISTRATION AND OFFICIAL RELATED COMMUNICATIONS
Your use of the Services represents to Tāla that you consent to receive electronic communications relating to your account. We may communicate:
over email (to the address you provide when creating your Tāla profile/Registration From)
through a third-party social content provider, or
directly via Telephonic notifications, notifications, and alerts.
MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
Tāla may, from time to time, send you newsletters about new features and content and other promotional announcements. If you do not wish to receive these promotional communications, please email info@Talaeducation.com to remove yourself from this mailing list. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to process such requests in a timely manner.
USE OF CONTENT
All information, materials, functions and Content (including Submissions, as defined in Section III, entitled “SUBMISSIONS”) contained on Applications are our copyrighted property or the copyrighted property of our licensors or licensees. All Content provided, is protected Indian and international copyright, trade secret or other intellectual property laws and treaties. All Tāla trademarks, service marks, trade names, and trade dress are proprietary to us and/or our licensors or licensees.
PERSONAL USE
Except as we specifically agree in writing, no Content from our sources may be used, reproduced, transmitted, distributed or otherwise exploited in any way other than as part of the Applications, except that where an Application is configured to enable the download of particular Content, you may download one copy of such Content to a single computer or mobile device for your personal, noncommercial home use only, provided that you (a) keep intact all copyright and other proprietary notices, (b) make no modifications to the Content, and (c) do not use the Content in a manner that suggests an association with any non-Tāla products, services or brands. Any business use, “re-mailing” or high-volume or automated use of Content is prohibited. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, license to access the Content as a user. Except for the foregoing limited license, no right, title or interest shall be transferred to you.
EDUCATORS AND EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS USE
Educators and education institutions approved by Tāla are allowed to use Tāla’s Services, and any Content accessed through our Services, for use in connection with your education activities, classes and events.
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION RESTRICTIONS
The availability of our Services may be subject to your geographic location, Internet connection, applicable state or national laws, location-specific Content and the devices you use to access our Services. While Tāla strives to provide you with fast and reliable experience, there are some instances where your device or Internet connection may cause our Services to be slow or where your geographic location can restrict you from viewing and participating in some Content and classes. Tāla will not be responsible for issues in quality or outages. You are responsible for all Internet or mobile data access charges. Please check with your Internet and/or mobile service provider for information on possible Internet data usage charges.

YOUR PROMISES TO Tāla
Copy Restrictions – Tāla respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects you to do the same.

CONTACTING YOU
Tāla will never contact you for sensitive personal information outside of the, website or mobile app. You should never open any emails or click any links that appear to be from Tāla regarding your account no matter how legitimate these communications may look. Please access and change all information through your Tāla account by logging in with your username and password.
USE OF INFORMATION
Information collected by Tāla is used internally by our authorized employees for the following purposes:
To improve our site by determining which areas, features and products are most popular.
To personalize the site for our customers and their children. For example, we may recommend products or features a family may like based on what they have purchased in the past.
To send periodic emails, newsletters, updates and surveys.  The email addresses our customers provide for registration will only be used to send information and updates pertaining to Tāla services and services with which we are affiliated.

II. PRIVACY POLICY
INFORMATION WE COLLECT OR RECEIVE
In the course of registration, we will collect and/or receive the following types of information. You authorize us to collect and/or receive such information.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
We only receive or collect information that identifies you personally if you choose to provide such personally identifiable information to us via email, a form, subscribing to our content, or other means. When you sign up to become a user or contact us, you may be required to provide us with personal information about yourself (collectively, the “Personal Information”). We do not collect any Personal Information from you when you use the Applications unless you provide us with the Personal Information voluntarily.

PAYMENT INFORMATION
If you choose to make a purchase a service of ours that requires a fee, you will be required to provide us with your payment information, including, without limitation, bank account numbers, credit card or debit card numbers, account details, ACH information, and similar data (collectively, “Payment Information”). Such Payment Information will be collected and processed by our third-party payment vendors pursuant to the terms and conditions of their privacy policies and terms of service, and we do not obtain access to any Payment Information in connection with such purchases or subscriptions.

HOW INFORMATION IS USED AND SHARED
You authorize us to use the Personal Information, Payment Information, Geolocational Information, and the Other Information (collectively, the “Information”) to:
provide, maintain and improve our communication and any related services;
provide our Services;
send you class material, emails, messages and mail
respond to your comments, questions and requests and provide customer service;
administer our promotional programs, including marketing email communications;
solicit your feedback;
inform you about our products and services;
carry out any other purpose for which the information was collected.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY and PROTECTION We adhere to the Children’s Privacy and Protection and will not knowingly collect Personal Information from any child under the age of 13 without express parental consent. If a child under the age of 13 has provided us with age identifiable Personal Information, a parent or guardian of that child may contact us and request that such information be deleted from our records.
CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date stated at the top of this Statement. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time.

III. SUBMISSIONS
In this Statement, we use the word “Submissions” to mean text, messages, ideas, concepts, pitches, suggestions, stories, screenplays, treatments, formats, artwork, photographs, drawings, videos, audiovisual works, musical compositions (including lyrics), sound recordings, characterizations, your and/or other persons’ names, likenesses, voices, usernames, profiles, actions, appearances, performances and/or other biographical information or material, and/or other similar materials that you submit, post, upload, embed, display, communicate or otherwise distribute (collectively, “Distribute”) on or through our social media and other formats.

LICENSES AND REPRESENTATIONSYou hereby grant us and our licensees, distributors, agents, representatives and other authorized users, a perpetual, non-exclusive, irrevocable, fully-paid, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable (in whole or part) worldwide license under all copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, privacy and publicity rights and other intellectual property rights you own or control to use, reproduce, transmit, display, exhibit, distribute, index, comment on, modify (including removing lyrics and music from any Submission or substituting the lyrics and music in any Submission with music and lyrics selected by us), create derivative works based upon, perform and otherwise exploit such Submissions, in whole or in part, in all content formats and channels now known or hereafter devised (including on Applications, on third party web sites, on our broadcast and cable networks and stations, on our broadband and wireless platforms, products and services, on physical content, and in theatrical release) for any and all purposes including entertainment, news, advertising, promotional, marketing, publicity, trade or commercial purposes, all without further notice to you, with or without attribution, and without the requirement of any permission from or payment to you or to any other person or entity (the “Submissions License”).
By communicating a Submission, you represent and warrant that the Submission and your communication thereof conform to the Rules of Conduct (set forth below in Section 4 labeled “RULES OF CONDUCT”)) and other requirements of this Statement and that you own or have the necessary rights, licenses, consents and permissions, without the need for any permission from or payment to any other person or entity, to exploit, and to authorize us to exploit, such Submission in all manners contemplated by this Statement (including the Submissions License). To the extent that any Submissions you Distribute on or through our Applications contain original songs or recordings, you hereby represent that you are a member of ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or any other applicable performing rights society and that all musical compositions (including lyrics) and sound recordings contained in such Submissions are available for licensing to us (and our licensees, distributors, agents, representatives and other authorized users) directly from such societies. Notwithstanding the foregoing, regardless of whether you are a member of any performing rights society, you grant the Submissions License with respect to each and every musical composition (including lyrics) and sound recordings contained in such Submissions.
To the extent that we solicit Submissions through features or activities on or through Applications (including games, sweepstakes, contests, promotions and Public Forums (defined below in Section 3, labeled “PUBLIC FORUMS AND COMMUNICATION”)) that require the use of our copyrighted works (in whole or in part), we hereby grant you a non-exclusive license to create a derivative work using our copyrighted works (in whole or in part) as required (but only as required, and only for the purpose of creating your Submissions); provided however, that such license shall be conditioned upon your assignment of all rights in the work you create to us. If such rights are not assigned to us, your license to create derivative works using our copyrighted works (in whole or in part) shall be null and void. You agree to the foregoing grant of rights, consents, statements and assignments whether or not your Submissions are used by us.
You hereby appoint us as your agent with full power to enter into and execute any document and/or do any act we may consider appropriate to confirm the grant of rights, consents, statements, assignments and waivers set forth in this Statement.
To the extent any “moral rights,” “ancillary rights,” or similar rights in or to the Submissions exist and are not exclusively owned by us, you agree not to enforce any such rights as to us or our licensees, distributors, agents, representatives and other authorized users, and you shall procure the same statement not to enforce from any others who may possess such rights.
Without limiting the scope of the Submissions License or any future grant of rights, consents, statements, assignments, and waivers you may make with respect to Submissions, you hereby ratify any prior grant of rights, consents, statements, assignments and waivers made by you with respect to Submissions submitted by you to us.

Payment
Payment for all purchase orders must be received in full before the start date of the course. For bulk orders from schools and other parties, the school must pay in full for all participants, prior to the cut-off date for that course. A bulk purchase order number or confirmation number will be sent to the school account. The participants will need to register for the event, using that code. Participants registering with a purchase order should follow up with their employer to ensure timely payment.
Group discounts can be availed in consultation with the management and applies only when the management expressly agrees with the same in any written format.

Refunds
Requests for refunds of registration fee must be received no later than five calendar days before the start of an online event and ten calendar days before the start of a face to face event. A 5% processing fee will be deducted from all amounts to be refunded. Registration fees are non transferable.
If there is an issue in internet connectivity from the hosts the event will be rescheduled to a later date and if that is unavailable a full refund (excluding processing fee) will be offered in 10 working days. However, if there is an issue in connectivity from the participant’s side, beyond half an hour into the online event, no refund will be offered. However, course material or recording (at sole discretion of Tāla Education) will be shared with the participant.


Event Cancellation
Tāla Education reserves the right to cancel any course because of low registration or events beyond its control. In the unlikely event of cancellation, participants will be notified and offered the option to switch to a different date/course or receive a full refund.

Professional Development Facilitator
Tāla Education reserves the right to substitute event facilitators in the unlikely event that the facilitators listed cannot conduct the program. Substitution of event facilitators is not a cause for refund.

Tāla Education facilitators may receive honorarium for presenting at learning events.

Tāla Education facilitators agree to present materials and contents that are educationally sound for the learning event. Proper citations and permissions have been used and granted. If a facilitator’s proprietary interests are present in the learning event, Tāla Education will post this information on the event's webpage.

Certificate of Completion
Tāla Education provides a certificate of completion and participation with hours of professional development for each course participants complete. Tāla Education is in the process of accreditation from international educational organisations and bodies. Tāla Education makes no claim that we are an accredited or a certified entity/organisation. Tāla Education uses its own intellectual property, information, knowledge, concepts, lessons plans, activities, songs and pedagogical approaches. We also borrow and share information, knowledge, concepts, lessons plans, activities, songs and pedagogical approaches, borrowed with valid permissions and citations. All credit in written and verbal form is given to the proprietors of the content.

Support and Feedback
Tāla Education is always looking to improve its programs, and welcomes feedback. If you would like to provide feedback, file a complaint regarding a Tāla Education online program, enquire about refunds or payments, please email the support team - support@talaeducation.com. Grievances are taken very seriously and will be addressed in a timely and thoughtful manner.

What Information Does Tāla Education Collect?
